Over the last 2 years, I’ve been lucky enough to score an awesome modelling job in Macau at the MGM hotel, where I get to spend 4 days in a 5 star hotel, working and relaxing at the same time. Although I should be worrying about keeping fit I just can’t help myself drooling and wanting to press my face against the patisserie glass in awe of the delicious desserts! So on the last day I always like to treat myself with a few little cakes and pastries! Tried and tested, I suggest to any of you spending a few days at the MGM, you must try a dessert from here but stay away from the mousse filled desserts as it just tastes like flavorless frothy foam in your mouth!
However I do suggest try the pastries, the croissants and custard filled pastries (in picture below). They are delicious and unique and try the mango custard tart its very different from the usual egg tarts you see on the street!
As for cakes, the cheesecakes and chocolate desserts are the bomb! Especially the one in the last photo, it’s a layered hazelnut and chocolate cake with a crunchy base. The base itself is to die for, it tastes like a thin layer of wafer but mixed with the hazelnut cake and chocolate creates the perfect combination! Topped off with some crunchy chocolate nutty balls mmmmm makes me drool thinking about it!
The 2nd last dessert is a caramelised apple and chocolate dessert, the acidity of the apples goes perfectly well with the chocolate mouse and the balance is there when you eat all 3 layers together!

For dessert lovers and greedy food addicts that like to try a bit of everything! Instead of paying for expensive individual desserts and having to have a large portion of each cake, I suggest to go have dinner at MGMs buffet restaurant called ” ROSSIO “.
This restaurant is filled with a large array of seafood, sushi bar, sunday roasts, chinese food, noodles, but most importantly it has basically 80% of the desserts served at the Patisserie at the buffet! So if you like to try a bit of everything and go back for seconds, I suggest this method!
A Buffet dinner at Rossio restaurant is $388 per person.
